About me

At Maitreyi Mental Wellness, we believe in creating a space where individuals feel genuinely heard, emotionally supported, and deeply understood. Rooted in the meaning of “Maitreyi”—symbolizing wisdom, compassion, and nurturing connection our centre is guided by the belief that healing begins in a safe, trusting, and non-judgmental environment. Founded by Shailja Mishra, a qualified Counselling Psychologist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Psychology, the centre is dedicated to delivering structured, ethical, and compassionate mental health services. With extensive experience working with diverse populations across varied emotional and life concerns, she brings a warm, integrative, and client-centred approach to therapy supporting individuals in building resilience, self-awareness, and lasting emotional well-being.

My therapeutic style is integrative, client-centred, and evidence-based, drawing from a range of contemporary psychological approaches. I work using principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Mindfulness-Based Interventions, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I believe that every individual’s emotional journey is unique. My focus is on creating a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space where clients can gently unpack emotional burdens at a pace that feels both secure and empowering. Therapy is viewed as a collaborative process, where insight, skill-building, and emotional resilience develop together.

Through structured interventions and compassionate exploration, I help clients build healthier thought patterns, regulate emotions, strengthen interpersonal relationships, and reconnect with their sense of purpose and self-worth.
